At the heart of AviaQuest is an on-device AI engine powered by BirdNET, developed by Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Chemnitz University of Technology. Start listening and AviaQuest matches calls against the active UK or Portugal guide, with country and seasonal context helping reduce implausible results.

Every confirmed detection adds the species to your personal collection. Birds are ranked across five rarity tiers — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary — each awarding XP that advances you through the Birder Rank ladder, from Fledgling to the coveted Legendary Birder status.

AviaQuest also supports photo identification, GPS-tracked Bird Walks, country-aware Field Guides, community challenges, regional progress tracking and privacy-safe social discovery. Whether you're stepping into a garden for the first time or planning a serious birding outing, AviaQuest grows with you.

We take wildlife privacy seriously. Community map locations are deliberately blurred server-side, with stronger obfuscation for disturbance-sensitive species in both supported countries. Another birder's raw GPS coordinates are never exposed through public community views.
